Arden Russell Chilcote, Franklin, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at the age of 73.
He began his career working for the Indiana State Legislature in 1966 as an intern on a Ford Foundation grant for the Legislative Advisory Commission and ended as executive director of the Legislative Services Agency, retiring after 35 years of service to the State of Indiana.
He was bestowed the Sagamore of the Wabash award by then-Gov. Frank O’Bannon on Sept. 13, 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Helms Chilcote; daughters, Lisa Kujawski (Louis) and Christa Carroll (James); and brother, Mark; as well as grandchildren, Andrew Kujawski, Katherine Carroll and Margaret Carroll.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Helen (Miller) Chilcote.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to Indianapolis Symphony, 32 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46204.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. today at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service Vandivier-Tudor Chapel, 951 N. Main St., Franklin. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until time of service.
