Mary Frances (Potocki) Henggeler, 74, was born to eternal life on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Greenwood.

Mary was born Sept. 12, 1938, in Chicago, to Dr. Edward R. and Lillian D. (Pacer) Potocki.

She married Marvin J. Henggeler on May, 2, 1992, in Greenwood; they were married for 21 years.

Mary had a master’s degree from Loyola University in Chicago.

She was a teacher in the Chicago Public Schools and past president of Illinois Teaching English as a Second Language.

Mary and Marvin moved to Greenwood in 1992, and they opened the Soap Bubble Laundromat. She continued to teach English as a second language at

IUPUI, until retiring in 2011.

Mary was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Roman Catholic Church, where she was an active volunteer. She also volunteered at Meadowstone Therapeutic Riding Facility near Amity and the OASIS program in Greenwood.

Mary authored the children’s book “Where’s Wendy?”

Survivors include her husband, Marvin Henggeler of Greenwood; and a sister, Cathy Anne (James M.) Trawinski of North Las Vegas, Nev.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Father Charles Potocki.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Greenwood Roman Catholic Church, 335 S. Meridian St. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North, where a prayer service will be conducted at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Additional visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
