Emerson Franklin Finley
Emerson Franklin “Frank” Finley, 75, of Seymour, died at 9:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
He graduated from Austin High School and was of the Catholic faith.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1974 after 20 years. During his 20 years, he served two tours of duty in Vietnam.
He moved to Jackson County in 1996 and previously lived in Bartholomew County.
He was born Nov. 7, 1937, in Scottsburg, the son of Earl Edward Finley and Maymie Cole Finley.
On July 26, 1996, in Columbus, he married Connie Wheeler Finley. She survives.
Survivors include his wife of Seymour; children, Angie Davies of Colorado Springs, Colo., Michael (Lora) Finley of Littleton, Colo., and Sandy Schmidt of North Platte, Neb.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Joe (Dezra) Finley of Franklin, Roy (Wanda) Finley of Taylorsville, Kevin Poore of Seymour and Raymond (Dorothy) Finley of Morgantown; one sister, Sue (Bob) Kincaid of Franklin; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Walker of Crothersville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronnie Finley; a brother, Edison Ray Finley; and a sister, Juanita Walker.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday at Johnson Funeral Home, 2005 S. Main St., Vallonia. Michael Hogg will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Vallonia Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home.
