Norman “Lee” Hasty

Norman “Lee” Hasty, 73, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at his residence in Whiteland after a long battle with cancer.

Lee was born on April 18, 1940, in Kentucky to Joe and Maggie (McClure) Hasty. He was raised in Kentucky and moved to Whiteland in 1956.

On April 2, 1967, he married his loving wife Carol (Threlkeld) Hasty. She survives.

In 1997 after 40 years, Lee retired from Merico Inc. of Indianapolis (a.k.a. American Foods and Earthgrains Inc.). During his employment years, he also did part-time work for family friends Bobby Griffith and the late Emmitt Griffith.

Lee enjoyed golfing, NASCAR racing, fishing and gardening with his father.

In addition to his wife Carol, he leaves behind brothers, Wayne (Kathy) and Bob Hasty of Lebanon; and sisters, Wanda Deal, Gerliene (Bruce) Bartlett, Joyce Taylor of Lebanon and Ruth (Michael) Cochran of Darlington. He also will be missed by his sisters-in-law, Patricia Rogers of Franklin and Sharon Threlkeld of St. Augustine, Fla.; as well as uncles, cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in passing by his parents, Joe and Maggie (McClure) Hasty; a brother, Verlin Hasty; brothers-in-law, Tom Deal of Lebanon and Frank Threlkeld of Franklin; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St., Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
