LuAnn Cochran

LuAnn Cochran, 53, passed away Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, surrounded by her loving family after her seven-year war with head and neck cancer. She won three battles but lost the war on battle number four.

She was a resident of Franklin. LuAnn lived the previous 15 years in Racine, Wis.

The daughter of T.C. and Kathleen (Griffith) Cochran, LuAnn was born Feb. 2, 1960, in Lexington, Ky. She was married twice during her life but was happily single at the time of her passing.

LuAnn is survived by her only child, Joanna Dawn Smith Owens (Nick Owens); and her two grandchildren, Breanna Nicole Cupp and Kaleb Karroya Owens, all of Franklin. She also is survived by her beloved mother, Kathleen Cochran of Franklin; a brother, Herlin Lee Cochran of New Whiteland; a sister, Harleen Cochran of Nineveh; two nieces, Bellame Ferrell and Anna Petro; two nephews, Marty and Rusty Cochran; three great-nieces; and three great-nephews.

LuAnn was preceded in death by her father, T.C. Cochran of Franklin; and paternal grandparents, Sam and Nettie Cochran, and maternal grandparents, Ernest and Mary Griffith, all of Liberty, Ky.

LuAnn was a 1978 graduate of Franklin Community High School and a 1981 graduate of Professional Careers Institute. She was employed by Methodist Hospital Barrington Health Center for 16 years preceding her move to Wisconsin. She had several jobs prior to finding her current occupation in 2000 as a medical software implementation consultant for Allscripts Healthcare Solutions out of Raleigh, N.C. LuAnn received many kudos during her employment as she enjoyed her position as it gave her the opportunity to travel and meet many new and interesting people.

LuAnn loved to talk, so she never met a stranger and was always kind and helpful to anyone who was in need. She loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed laughing and liked to make others laugh. She enjoyed reading fiction, traveling, Motown and country music, watching Chicago Bears football games and practical jokes. She was very thankful she was given the opportunity to spend a lot of time with her family during the last year of her life.

A funeral service will be conducted at noon Saturday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31) in Franklin. Friends and family may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A burial service will be conducted Saturday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
