Elmo Markem Burks
Elmo Markem Burks, 81, passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013. He was a resident of Franklin.
He was born May 22, 1932, in Tennessee to the late Jesse and Eva Burks.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Burks; three children, James Burks, Debra Hayes and Donna Speck; two stepchildren, Alan Nalley and Steve Nalley; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Phillip Burks; and a sister, Lorene Randolph.
He was preceded in death by a son, George Burks; a stepson, Mike Nalley; and four siblings, Ray, Houston and Jesse Burks, and Lovie Reed.
Elmo was employed by Kawneer and Stokely-Van Camp before retiring.
He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and trading knives.
A service will be conducted at
1 p.m. Thursday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Vandivier-Tudor Chapel,
951 N. Main St., Franklin. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Elmo will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
