Nita C. (Van Meter) Clendenen

Nita C. (Van Meter) Clendenen, 53, passed away Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at her residence in Franklin.

Nita was born May 21, 1960, in Franklin, the daughter of the late Dolphus and Wanda (Lawson) Van Meter.

She was employed as a manager with Murphy’s USA gas station for seven years, and prior to that she was a manager at the Clark gas station in Franklin.

Nita enjoyed collecting dolls.

She is survived by her partner, lover and best friend of 30 years, Jerry Wright of Franklin; three daughters, Tara (Josh) Clendenen, April (Paul) Sneed and Brandy (Danny) Grass, all of Franklin; and of Greenwood, three sons, Jason (Kari) Clendenen of Greenwood, Jerry Wright Jr. and Kerry (Kim) Wright, both of Trafalgar; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sheila (Ed) Hendrickson of Franklin; and a brother, Keith Van Meter of Franklin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Connie Paris; and a brother, Tony Van Meter.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel, 197 E. Jefferson St., Franklin. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
