Leonard "Len" Elsworth Thorpe

Leonard “Len” Elsworth Thorpe, 60, passed away Thursday Aug. 15, 2013, in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Greenwood.

Len was born Sept. 16, 1952, in Indianapolis to Leonard and Joann (King) Thorpe.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Len married Terri Wethington on Feb. 12, 1993, in Franklin.

He enjoyed music, bowling, old cars, hot rods, working on cars and watching movies.

He was a NHRA fan.

He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include, his wife, Terri Thorpe of Greenwood; mother, Joann Thorpe of Indianapolis; eight children, Leonard (Ali) Thorpe Jr. of Noblesville, Brian(Lyndsy) Thorpe of Avon, Jason (Mandy) Thorpe, Valerie (Andy) Haywood and Vanessa (Mario) Haywood, all of Indianapolis, Lynnette (Adam) Thorpe and Vicki (Andy) Cooper, both of Greenwood, and Nick (Sarah) Haywood of California; four brothers, Glenn (Denise) Thorpe of Florida, Kevin (Carol) Thorpe and Kenny Thorpe both of Indianapolis and James (Terisa) Thorpe of Lizton; 14 grandchildren, sister-in-law, Shelby Smith of Greenwood and niece Kelly (Pete) Burton of Greenwood and former wife, Evonne “Jonni” Thorpe of Indianapolis

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Thorpe and a sister, Linda Thorpe.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Glenns Valley, in Greenwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leonard E. Thorpe memorial fund in care of the Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel.
