Fredrick L. Bemenderfer
Fredrick L. Bemenderfer, 79, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013.
Born July 14, 1934, in Akron, he was a 1952 graduate of Tech High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War.
Fred was a machinist at GM Truck and Bus for more than 30 years. He enjoyed camping, traveling, crossword puzzles and especially playing golf. He had been a member of Emmanuel Church of Greenwood and White River Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Peggy Jo (Wilson); children, Joy (Ralph) Bork, Gay (Brian) Shingleton, Glee Messer; sister, Donna (George) McAlister; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, William D. and Verna Bemenderfer and siblings, William, Harry and Norma.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 South State Road 135. The Celebration of Life Service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
