William E. Buening, 76, of Greensburg, passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.
Born Jan. 28, 1937, in Decatur County, he was the son of Ferd J. and Ida H. (Obermeyer) Buening.
He was a farmer and tool-and-die maker. He was a graduate of Napoleon High School, a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg and a member of the Hoosier Carvers Club.
He was married to Wilma Brancamp on June 24, 1958; and she survives.
He also is survived by two sons, Michael (Lisa) Buening of Franklin and Kenneth (Nancy) Buening of Greensburg; three daughters, Theresa Caffee and Janet (Bob) Henry, both of Greensburg, and Katrina (Rickey) Applegate of North Vernon; four brothers, Carl (Marilyn) Buening, Maurice (Mary Jane) Buening and Paul (Anna) Buening, all of Greensburg, and James (Sue) Buening of Cicero; two sisters, Joann (Ed) Burkhart and Rita (Jim) Meyer, both of Greensburg; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons-in-law, Junior Bowling and Bill Caffee.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home, 302 N. Franklin St., Greensburg. A public rosary for family and friends will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 302 S. East St., Greensburg, with the Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Millhousen.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Building Fund or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, in care of the funeral home.
