Evelyn (Spruill) Reynolds-Festerling passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at the Franklin United Methodist Community. She was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Columbus, Miss.
Evelyn was born Nov. 4, 1920, in Ethelsville, Ala., to the late John Harvey and Lela Iuna (Shelton) Spruill.
She was a 1937 graduate of Ethelsville High School and went on to marry James Reynolds on Dec. 28, 1937, in Columbus, Miss. He preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1973, after 35 loving years.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (David) Null of Dyer, James M. (Doris) Reynolds of Morgantown and Jerry (Madeline) Reynolds of Bismarck, Ark.; and one brother, J.H. (Lois) Spruill of Columbus, Miss. Evelyn will be remembered by her seven grandchildren, Don Reynolds, Deborah Fitch, Malinda Sauer, Todd Reynolds, Kevin Null, Donna Hall and Lisa Brady; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by five siblings, Annie Blackburn, Celeste Jones, and Murray, Morris and Louie Spruill; and a grandson, David Wayne Null.
Evelyn retired in 1977 from the LaGrange (Ill.) Memorial Hospital as a ward clerk after 20 years of service.
She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Columbus, Miss., where she had been a Sunday school teacher.
She enjoyed traveling with her church going to music concerts. Evelyn also enjoyed reading her Bible and spending time with her family and was known for her excellent cooking and baking.
The Rev. Chris Page will conduct a funeral service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home, Cremation and Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be Thursday at Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien, Ill.
