Leslie Wayne Belton
Leslie Wayne Belton, 77, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.
Wayne was born May 21, 1936, in Liberty Ky., to Vitus and Elsie (Heiston) Belton. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He married Jeanette Knifley on June 25, 1960; they were married for 53 years.
Wayne was employed with Allison Transmission Division of General Motors as a job setter and aircraft specialist for 28 years.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, RV traveling, riding his motorcycle and collecting baseball caps.
He was a Kentucky Wildcats fan. He was a member of Franklin and Bargersville senior centers and New Whiteland Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Belton of Franklin; three children, Debbie Lesjak of Carmel, Jeffrey Belton of Greenwood and Gregory (Leigh Ann) Belton of Mooresville; a sister, Juanita Wethington of Liberty Ky.; a brother, Wendal Belton of Lebanon, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Anica, Shane, Joel, Corrin, Morganne, Abby, Tori and Nikki; and his dogs, Precious and Suzette.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joyce Wethington.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood with full military honors.
