Helen B. Gifford Armour, 92, formerly of Unadilla, N.Y., passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Morning Pointe, The Lantern Alzheimer’s Memory Care Center in Franklin.

Helen was born April 26, 1921, in Masonville, N.Y., the daughter of Austin and Bertha (Whitman) Gifford.

She married William “Bill” Armour in September 1941.

Helen was a dairy farm wife and also worked at the Sidney Federal Credit Union and eventually for State University of New York College at Oneonta.

She relocated from her home in Unadilla Center to Franklin in 2010 and was a resident of Morning Pointe.

Helen enjoyed tending her flower beds and watching the birds, especially bluebirds, which attended her feeders. She loved the countryside and hills and often drove the country ways and roads for enjoyment. She especially loved watching the spectacular sunsets she could view from her Unadilla home and playing the piano and organ.

Helen was a member of the Unadilla Grange and the Unadilla Friends Meeting (Church) in Rogers Hollow, N.Y.

Helen is survived by her children, Theodore “Ted” Armour and his wife, Susan Moger of Edgewater, Md., Bruce Armour and his wife, Cindy, of Franklin, and Jayne Morenus of Naples, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Tigi Armour of Unadilla, N.Y.; her sisters, Savalla “Sally” Howland of Masonville, N.Y., and Zilpha “Zip” Casey of Greene, N.Y.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; and a son, Larry Armour.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Unadilla Friends Meeting, in Helen’s memory, or to the Alzheimers Association.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
