Roger D. Ricketts, 80, of Greenwood, died Thursday, July 18, 2013.

Roger was born on Feb. 7, 1933, to Caryll and Lena Kepcha Ricketts in Peoria, Ill.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United National Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.

He was a member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church and attended services at Rosedale Hill United Methodist Church regularly.

He retired from Indiana Bell Telephone and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 481.

Roger enjoyed volunteering regularly at Fletcher Place Ministries, Habitat for Humanity and MPCC Food Pantry.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Reyne (Jim) Branner of Columbus, Roger D. (Kathi) Ricketts II of Indianapolis, Becky (Don) Smith of Greenwood and Deanna Ricketts of Greenwood; a sister, Wilma Jacobsmeyer of South Bend; companion, Sue Mohr-Humbarger; 10 grandchildren, Michael Branner, Brenna Branner, Josh Curry, Matthew Curry, Zachary Isenor, Ryan Isenor, Kaitlyn Ricketts, Jacob Ricketts, Haley Marie Smith and Morgan Lynne Smith; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife, Maureen W. Madden Ricketts; second wife, Sylvia Taylor Ricketts; and four brothers, Bob, Stanley, Kenneth and Richard Ricketts.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Pleasant Christian Church, 381 Bluff Road, Greenwood. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis.
