Gary Neal Service
Gary Neal Service, 61, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013, in Franklin. He was a longtime resident of Franklin.
He was born June 10, 1952, in Franklin to Harry C. Service Jr. and Barbara (Mitchell) Bechman.
Gary is survived by one daughter, Alisyn Service of Franklin; one son, Kenneth “Shane” Service of Carmel; three grandchildren, Kendon Service, Robert Service and Rylee Singleton; his mother, Barbara Bechman of Franklin; one brother, Kevin Service of Edinburgh; one sister, Judy Service of Franklin; one brother-in-law, Harold Matlock of Franklin; and six stepbrothers, David, Steve, Pat and Alan Ludwig, and Jim and Bill Bechman.
He was preceded in passing by his father, Harry; stepfather, Nelson Ludwig; stepfather, Charles Bechman; and a sister, Dianna Matlock.
Gary was a 1971 graduate of Franklin Community High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Gary was employed by REMC for 15 years. He later worked for the Indiana State Department of Correction as a correctional officer and in the transportation industry. Gary also worked for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office as a reserve deputy.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin. He also was a member of the Moose Lodge.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
