Bonita R. Grove Martlage

Bonita R. Grove Martlage, 93, passed away peacefully at her son’s home Monday, July 1, 2013. She was a resident of New Whiteland.

She was born Sept. 6, 1919, to Cleveland and Alga Grove in Ohio. She married Herman Martlage on June 9, 1969.

She worked for Eli Lilly and Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1980.

She was a member of the Greenwood American Legion Post 252 Women’s Auxiliary and the Whiteland VFW Post 6978 Women’s Auxiliary.

She enjoyed bowling, camping and boating on Lake Monroe.

Bonita is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Carol Carpenter; grandchildren, Gordon Carpenter, Kristi (Greg) Gibson, Dana (Mike) McClain and Brian (Mary) Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Alexandra Fenter, Evan, Ethan and Eli McClain, Heather Partlow, and Ryleigh, Alex, Crystal and Andrew Gibson; great-great-granddaughter, Mirabella Partlow; stepchildren, Dick (Michelle) and Buddy (Shelly) Martlage, Cindy (Jeff) Goss and Sherry (Gale) Wilshire; several stepgrandchildren; sisters-in-law, Virginia and DoraMay Grove; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Dorance, Delno and Merwin Grove; and a great-grandson, Eric McClain.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Community Hospital South, University Heights Rehab and Community Home Health for the wonderful care given to Bonita.

Special thanks to her dear friend Catherine Patrick.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or Susan B. Komen Race For The Cure, in care of the funeral home.
