Matilda E. Foster
Matilda E. (Green) Foster, 84, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin.
Matilda was born March 3, 1929, in Sheridan to Roy and Mabel (Borden) Green.
She was married to Ray Foster; they were married for 50 years. He preceded her in death.
Matilda was employed as a secretary for a group of doctors in Franklin for 25 years and for Carpenters Apprenticeship Training in Indianapolis for 10 years.
She was a 50-year-plus member of Order of the Eastern Star in Franklin. She was an active member of Community Congregational Church. She was also a member of Kappa Kappa Sigma sorority for 50 years and the State and County Democrat Women’s Association.
Matilda enjoyed reading books, socializing with friends and spending time with her family.
Survivors include three children, Timothy B. (Debbie) Foster and Thomas E. (Sandra Brown) Foster, both of Franklin, and Jody E. (John) Harvey of Plainfield; a brother, Bill Green of Franklin; six grandchildren, Madison Foster, Savannah Foster, Brandi Foster Kirkendall, Seth Brown, Jill Schafhauser and Joy Arkins; and eight great-grandchildren, Grady and Derek Schafhauser, Olivia and Hannah Arkins, Aidan Stahl, Emerson and Myles Kirkendall, and Tinley Brown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers, James, Edwin and Joe Green.
The Rev. Dan McLaughlin will conduct a funeral service at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Indiana Masonic Home, Kresge Chapel, 690 S. State St., Franklin. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the chapel. Private burial will be at Hurricane Cemetery near Franklin.
