Marie Evelyn (Franke) Stahl

Marie Evelyn (Franke) Stahl, 79, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013, in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin.

She was born Dec. 1, 1933, in Seymour to Albert W. and Emma (Mellencamp) Franke. She married Paul J. Stahl on May 13, 1956. He preceded her in passing

Sept. 13, 2003.

Marie is survived by four sons, David Stahl, Douglas (Trella) Stahl, Daniel (Angela) Stahl and Duane Stahl, all of Franklin; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Kevin, Kylie, Camren and Aidan; two siblings, Herman (Irma) Franke of Seymour and Ruth (Dale) Woodard of Cortland; several cousins; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in passing by her parents.

She was a 1952 graduate of Cortland High School.

Marie worked in the banking and insurance industry while her husband attended dental school then assisted him in his dental practice in Franklin. She later worked for Franklin Community Middle School and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

She was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Franklin. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority and the Flower and Banner Guild. She volunteered at the Lord’s Cupboard and at Johnson Memorial Hospital.

Marie loved nature, farming, camping, water rafting and playing cards. She visited all 50 states and every province of Canada over her lifetime. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Franklin Active Adult Center. She truly loved spending time with her family.

The Rev. John Kolb will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1300 S. Morton St., Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.
