Howard P. Capps
Howard P. Capps, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013.
Born Jan. 29, 1932, in Burkesville, Ky., he was the son of the late Ellick and Ruia (Long) Capps. On Jan. 21, 1959, he married Emergine Watson. She survives.
Howard worked as a welder for General Motors for 31 years, retiring in 1990. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Greenwood Church of Christ. He enjoyed woodworking and was patiently awaiting the arrival of his first great-grandson, Lincoln.
Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa (Mark) Armstrong and Darlene (Bill) Cunningham; and five grandchildren, Ashley Baxter, Scott Armstrong, Cami Cunningham, Lexi Cunningham and Emmi Cunningham.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kevin Capps; and two sisters, Pauline Stevens and Judy Pyle.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
