Sandra Sue Whetstine
Sandra Sue “Sandy” Courtney Whetstine, 59, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, with her family by her side.
She was born Oct. 29, 1953, in Richmond to Ernest Eugene and Mary Elizabeth (Rupe) Courtney. She graduated from Indian Creek High School, class of 1971, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University.
Sandy retired from the state of Indiana in the Division of Child Services.
She is survived by two daughters, Megan Elisa (Michael) Bunch and Hanna Marie Whetstine; two granddaughters, Mackenzie and Madelyn; two brothers, Jeff (Tammy) and Allen Courtney; parents-in-law, Bob and Phyllis (King) Whetstine; a brother-in-law, Richard (Pam) Whetstine; a sister-in-law, Luann (Tim) Smith; four nephews; four nieces; six great-nephews; and five great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by a son, Travis Eugene; her husband, Norman “Butch” Whetstine; her father and mother; a sister, Cindy Fryer; and a brother-in-law, Brad Whetstine.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
