Virginia Ruth Folck
Virginia Ruth (Cooper) Folck, 91, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin and formerly of Bloomington and Vincennes.
Ruth was born April 23, 1921, in Carlisle to the late Minard and Gladys (Risinger) Cooper.
She married Francis E. Folck on June 3, 1944, in Carlisle. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2000, after 55 years marriage.
After graduating from Carlisle High School and Indiana Business College in Vincennes, Ruth became a homemaker when her children were born.
She was a member of and volunteered for several charitable organizations in the 42 years the family lived in Bloomington, including Delta Theta Tau, Opportunity House, Church Women United and St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
After moving to Franklin in 2000, she became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin.
She enjoyed quilting and counted cross-stitch.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Howell of Greenwood; son and daughter-in-law, Doug Folck and Leslie Livingston of Clarksville; granddaughter, Alexandra Howell of Greenwood; sister, Helen Mackey of Lafayette; sister-in-law, Gloria Cooper of Ohio; and five nephews, a niece and their families.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Paul Cooper; a sister-in-law, a brother- in-law, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, a niece and two nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at the Franklin United Methodist Community, Wright Chapel, 1070 W. Jefferson St., with visitation from 2 p.m. until service time today at the chapel. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel.
