Leonard E. Griffin Sr.
Leonard E. Griffin Sr., 80, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
He was born Sept. 4, 1932, in Yarbro, Ark., to James C. Griffin and Idalee (Pentecost) Griffin. He married Bonnie J. (Smith) Griffin on March 5, 1955, in Blytheville, Ark., she survives.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War having served as an operations and an intelligence specialist. Mr. Griffin had been a typesetter for Franklin Printing for 40 years. He then worked for Rhoades True Value in Franklin for 10 years, until retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie J. (Smith) Griffin of Franklin; daughter, Laurie A. Griffin of Indianapolis, sons, Leonard E. Griffin Jr. and Jeff T. Griffin, both of Franklin and James C. Griffin II (Pam) of Alabama; two grandchildren, Nicole Flanagan of Madison and Brittany Griffin of Franklin; four great-grandchildren, Dason, Lacie Jean, Mason, and Peyton and one sister.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
The United States Army Military Honor Guard will perform military honors at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary And Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
