Alice Kathyrn (Orem) Finney
Alice Kathyrn (Orem) Finney, 85, a longtime resident of Greenwood and White River Township, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and the loving, caring staff at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis.
She was born May 3, 1927, in Hanover. She was married on Feb. 16, 1946, to Ralph Finney, Jr. They shared 60 years of marriage until his death in 2006.
Alice was a 1946 graduate of Southport High School and also attended Indiana Central College. She was employed as a secretary at Detroit Allison and later served many years as the executive secretary to the Director of the Vocational Education Department for the State of Indiana.
In retirement, she enjoyed traveling with Ralph in their recreational vehicle to Texas and Florida, attending auctions, planting flowers, and feeding the many birds, raccoons, and stray cats that showed up on her patio. She also enjoyed occasional casino jaunts to Shelbyville with her daughter and grandson.
Alice was a loyal patron at Ryan’s Restaurant on U.S. 31, sharing daily meals with the many friends and staff she had met there over the past few years.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Finney (Cliff) Lisle; her son, Ronald (Meridee) Finney; grandson, Nicholas Finney and his girlfriend, Brook Cole; granddaughters, Amanda (Jason) Harriman and Ashley (Brian) Hill; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Brook, Bryson, Devin and Briley.
A service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Alice will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery.
