Jeffrey Joe Tingle
Jeffrey Joe Tingle, 67, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, in New Whiteland. He was a resident of New Whiteland.
Jeff was born Aug. 6, 1945, in Indianapolis to Chester Owen and Leah Margorie (Hughey) Tingle.
He married Villa Kirby on Oct. 1, 1970, in Whiteland; they were married for 42 years.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was employed with Kortzendorf Co. in the shipping and receiving department.
Jeff was a member of the New Whiteland Baptist Church and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6978.
He enjoyed sports and NASCAR and was a big fan of Indiana University basketball and Indianapolis Colts football.
He worked at the Indy 500 and the Brickyard NASCAR races for many years.
He enjoyed cooking, bowling, Elvis, auctions, watching the History Channel and listening to the Pathway gospel group.
He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His greatest joy was serving his country in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Villa Tingle of New Whiteland; four children, Jeffrey Jay (Maria) Tingle of Missouri, Tara Tingle of New Whiteland, Tony (Teresa) Hall of Crawfordsville and Angie (David) Blair of Whiteland; a brother, David O. (Pat) Tingle of Franklin; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and an aunt, Marilyn Hughey Beeler of Franklin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Scottie Joe Tingle.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
