Mary Kathleen (Chambers) Bryant
Mary Kathleen (Chambers) Bryant, 85, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin.
She was born Jan. 3, 1928, in Columbus to Ralph B. Chambers and Ruth Elizabeth (Davis) Chambers.
She married Roger H. Bryant on Oct. 2, 1947, in Columbus. He preceded her in passing in 1995.
She is survived by a son, Gregory M. (Vicki) Bryant of Whiteland; two daughters, Carolyn McFarland and Lizabeth A. Bryant, both of Franklin; four grandchildren, Chris Bryant, April Bryant-Silva, Cecilia Bryant and Monica Bryant-Turner; eight great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Pauline Henderson and Delpha Lucas, both of Columbus.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; three brothers, Clarence, James and Raymond Chambers; her husband, Roger; and a grandchild, Adrian McFarland, who passed away in 1994.
Mary was a graduate of Seymour High School, where she sang in the choir and was a cheerleader. She attended Arthur Jordan Music Conservatory in Indianapolis.
She formerly was employed by Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh and Cummins Engine in Columbus as a receptionist. She later worked at Bendix Corp. in Franklin on the assembly line for 20 years, retiring in 1982.
Mary was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church, where she sang in the choir. She was a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and was a life member of the Franklin American Legion Post 205 Women’s Auxiliary, where she served as president.
Mary enjoyed horse races and playing bridge. Music and dancing were a big part of her life. She lived to sing.
A service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
