Mary Lynn Cavanaugh, 56, of Greenwood, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013.
She was born in Muncie on Oct. 9, 1956, to Richard and Delana Druhot Levy.
Mary Lynn received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University. She was the pastoral associate at St. Mark Catholic Church for the past 18 years. She also was director of the BUILD Program at the University of Indianapolis.
Mary Lynn was awarded the Religious Education Administrator of the Year by the Office of Catholic Education of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. She also was the recipient of the Bronze Pelican Award from the Catholic Committee on Scouting.
She formerly was director of religious education at St. Lawrence Church and was a teacher at both Our Lady of the Greenwood and St. Malachy Catholic schools.
Mary Lynn is survived by two sons, Garod Cavanaugh and Drew (Claire) Cavanaugh; her mother, Delana Levy; a brother, Jim (Carol) Levy; a granddaughter, Lilah Cavanaugh; a niece, Jena Levy; a nephew, Joel Levy; and longtime companion, David Bethuram, and his children, Meghan Bethuram and Sarah (Joseph) Dant and their son, Liam Dant.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark Church, 535 E. Edgewood Ave., Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a vigil service at 8 p.m., and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis.
