Steven Roger Martin

Steven Roger Martin, 66, Martinsville, passed away at 9:58 p.m.Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at the Grandview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Martinsville.

He was born Thursday, March 14, 1946, in Lafayette to the late Cheslea and Emma (Eberle) Martin.

Steve retired in June 2012 from Cummins Engines in Columbus where he was a meteorologist working with precise weights and measurements. He was a 1964 graduate of McCutcheon High School in Lafayette.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Steve was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Martha Chapter where he was a Past Patron and Masonic Lodge F&AM #74. He had become an avid bicyclist.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. (Lafferty) Martin, whom he married on Feb. 19, 1983; daughters, Sherry Holiday and husband, Rick of New Palestine, Anna Marie Haley and husband, Marvin of Warrensburg, Missouri, and Susan Mitcher and husband, Bill of Pittsboro; son-in-law, Jerry Nunn of Acton; brother, Harold Martin of Attica; sister, Marilyn Weber of Lafayette; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death are a daughter, Betty Nunn; sisters, Jacqueline Conyer and Sandra Warf; grandson, Zachariah Nunn.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Costin Funeral Chapel, 539 E. Washington St., Martinsville with Rev. Ben Greenbaum officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and one hour prior the funeral service.

There will be an Order of the Eastern Star Service and Masonic Lodge service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
