Clara Pearl Mills
Clara Pearl (Cross) Mills, 87, passed away at her home in Indianapolis on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013.
Pearl was born to the late Clyde and Alice (Irvin) Cross in Sioux City, Iowa on May 28, 1925.
Pearl was an alumna of the Faith Bible School in Mitchell, S.D., where she lived from 1932 to 1940.
Pearl married the love of her life on March 7, 1944. Ray had proposed to Pearl after their first date.
They were members of the Irvington Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Pearl worked for Naval Avionics for 34 years, retiring in 1987.
Pearl loved to dance and enjoyed the music of the Hoosier Harmony Quartet.
Pearl looked forward to lunch outings and playing cards. Many loved ones would call her “Ma” and contribute to her addiction of sweets. Pearl was a beautiful person and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She will never be forgotten.
Pearl leaves behind her son, Daniel R. (Cheryl) Mills of Humble, Texas; two grandchildren, Randy Mills and Melissa (James) Walker; four great-grandchildren, Ray and Jessyka Mills and Dallas and Katie Walker; brother, Ronnie (Michelle) Cross; and numerous nieces and nephews and very dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Ray “Buster” Mills; four brothers, Delmar, James, Wayne and Clyde; three sisters, Amy, Lois and Elizabeth; and two siblings at birth; and her beloved pet, Buddy, who waited for her to cross the rainbow bridge together.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Irvington Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2101 S. Franklin Road, Indianapolis.
Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Pearl to Faith Bible School, 1009 E. Sixth Ave., Mitchell, S.D. 57301, Attn: Cheryl Rothfuss.
