Mr. Thomas O. Staples, 84, of Greenwood, passed away on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013. He was born on Aug. 14, 1928 in St. Clair Shores, Mich., a son of William and Virginia (Farmer) Staples.
He married Norma Jean Staples on May 18, 1991. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Jeff (Trisha) Dillman; four daughters, Cynthia Grasso, Susan Davis, Jill (Jimmy) Lester, Christina Oldham; and five brothers, Robert (Ruth) Staples, Jim Staples, Donn (Meltina) Staples, Jerry Staples and Steve Staples. Also surviving is a sister, Carole (John) Hill ; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild.
Tom served our country in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division.
He was a member of the American Legion and a former real estate broker. He retired from Rolls-Royce Allison after 61 years of service.
He was a former member of Advent Lutheran Church and also Abundant Grace Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St., Greenwood. The funeral will be at
11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Chaplain Mike Mercer will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
