Kenneth Burton, 81, surrounded by his wife and family, went peacefully home to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013. He was a longtime resident of Franklin.
He was born on Jan. 19, 1932, in Russell County, Ky., the son of Marshall and Lula (Jasper) Burton. He married Nina (Jasper) Burton on April 7, 1954. She lovingly survives in Franklin.
Kenneth is also survived by one son, Kenneth E. (Patricia) Burton of Franklin; six grandchildren, Jerel Barger, Carrie Burton, Stacey Hoots, Mandy Burton, Katina (Eric) Turner and Jason Barger; three stepgrandchildren, Brian, Brent and Josh Colburn; 10 great-grandchildren, Darrian, Fulton, Jordan, Amber, Kayleb, Morgan, Cole, Jacob, Kaydence and Jaxson; nine great-stepgrandchildren; and three sisters, Claire Rich and Doris Barrett, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Annette Taylor of Harrison, Ohio.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; three brothers, two sisters; and one daughter, Glenda K. Barger.
Kenneth was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.
He was employed for 39 years by Arvin Industries in Franklin as a press operator, retiring in 1994.
Kenneth enjoyed tending to his garden and growing beautiful flowers.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends also may call from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Morris-Hislope Funeral Home, U.S. 27 North, in Science Hill, Ky. Rev. John Young will conduct a service at 10 a.m. on Friday at Shady Grove Church in Shady Grove, Ky. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery.
