Florence G. Petty, 78, went to dance with God on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013. She was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Edinburgh.
She was born Dec. 15, 1934, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Alvin J. and D. Myrtle (Ballard) Kelley. She married L. Wayne Petty on April 15, 1962; he survives.
Other survivors include her children, Kevin Wayne (Diana) Petty of Indianapolis and Kimberly S. (Carlos) Valera of Sugarland, Texas; two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Zachary Wayne Petty of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Olland Kelley and Charles Kiefer; and a sister Jewell Kiefer.
She was a graduate of Westfield High School.
She was a member of Edinburgh United Methodist Church and of Order of the Eastern Star No. 438 in Franklin.
She worked in food service at Franklin College and at Cracker Barrel.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, doing crossword puzzles and her faith in the Lord.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Kresge Chapel of the Indiana Masonic Home, 690 State St., Franklin, with the Rev. Kevin Reed officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service time Friday at the chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan B. Komen Foundation or the Indiana Masonic Home.
Arrangements are being handled by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.
