Dewey L. Higdon
Dewey L. Higdon, 75, of Needham, died on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Franklin United Methodist Community.
He was born March 20, 1936, in Kentucky to the late Joseph Higdon and Carrie Smith Higdon.
He married Dollie Mae Higdon on March 25, 1955. She preceded him in death on June 27, 2006.
Survivors include his children, Darrell (Monica) Higdon of Fairland; two daughters, Darlene (Terry) Dixon and Debbie (Terry) Buckler, both of Shelbyville; six grandchildren, Tim Buckler, Tabitha (Neil) Buckler Boggs, Dallas J. Dixon, Joshua Guffey, Dustin Higdon and Megan Higdon; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia Buckler and Chloe Boggs.
He also was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Higdon was a carpenter who worked for several different contractors.
He attended school in Kentucky.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Boggstown Cemetery, with the Rev. Perry Fouts officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville.
Memorial donations may be made to the Dewey Higdon Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
