John Louis Stanish
John Louis Stanish, 88, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013. He was a resident of of Indianapolis.
He was born Nov. 20, 1924, in Indianapolis to Louis and Mary (Kukman) Stanish. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
He was a tool and die maker for Western Electric, retiring in 1985 after 35 years.
John was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife Helen; his children, Ron (Peggy) Stanish, Connie (Greg) Thompson, Glen (Joy) Stanish and Cindy Stanish (Lisa Baker); a sister, Louise Rogers; grandchildren, Haley (Russell), Cole and Shannon Thompson, Adrienne and Jessica Stanish, and Mariel and Harrison Stanish; and a great-grandson, Charlie Russell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Joey and Louie; and a sister, Mary Mervar.
Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Monday at Flanner and Buchanan Lawrence Funeral Home, 5215 N. Shadeland Ave., Indianapolis. Entombment will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Community Hospitals (of Indianapolis) Foundation in care of the funeral home.
