Katherine Louisa Scribner Childers
Katherine Louisa Scribner Childers passed away early Christmas morning, Dec. 25, 2012. She was a resident of Franklin.
She was born Oct. 2, 1924, in Decatur, Ill.
She was married for more than 50 years to Robert Childers, and together they raised their 10 children in a home filled with faith, commitment and love.
They were members of First Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and later Calvary Tabernacle Church.
She loved the Lord and devoted her life to her family, and her greatest joy was her children.
She will be missed deeply.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Pvt. James Stephen Scribner and Orville Scribner; and one grandchild, Clinton Wayne Voyles.
She is survived by her 11 children, Nancy Mudd, John Robert Childers, Stephen Ray Childers, David Ronald Childers, Kathleen Thelma Painter, Melanie Jane Bench, James Richard Childers, Karen Lynn Graves, Mark Thomas Childers, Sandra Jean Jacobs and Paul Dean Childers. She also is survived by more than 20 grandchildren and more than 30 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may be received from noon until service time Sunday at the funeral home. No graveside service will be held due to the weather, but Katherine will be buried beside her husband at Nineveh Cemetery in Nineveh.
