Jean Grider, 71, died Dec. 9, 2012, with her family by her side at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
She was a resident of Greenwood and a former resident of Russell Springs, Ky.
She was born Aug. 28, 1941, in Adair County, Ky., to the late Waldon Everett and Hettie Shepherd Grider.
She attended Free Union Separate Baptist Church and Gateway Learning Center in Johnson County.
Jean loved gardening, growing flowers and vegetables. She loved Christmas shopping, wrapping presents, visiting Santa Claus and celebrating Christmas all year long. She also loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by two sisters, Flora Lee (Donald) Denny of Bargersville and Shelia McGaha of Greenwood; one brother, Everett “Bud” Grider of Trafalgar; a sister-in-law, Flossie Grider of Russell Springs, Ky.; and nieces and nephews, Doug (Janell) Grider, Tammy Link, Jerry (Jenny) Grider, David (Jill) Denny, Darcy (Chad) VanLannen, Brenda “Jeannie” (Bryant) Burton, Angie McGaha, Seth and Lexi Grider, Kimberly and Kaitie Link, Donovan and Drake Denny, Kaylee and Ethan VanLannen and Corbin and Abby Burton.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, J. B. Grider; a sister, Genevieve “Genny” Worsham; brothers-in-law, Charles McGaha and Russell Worsham; and a sister-in-law, Margie Grider.
Funeral services were conducted Dec. 12 at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, Russell Springs, Ky., with the Rev. Jesse Long officiating. Burial was in Free Union Cemetery in Columbia, Ky.
