William W. Woollen Jr., 87, of Greenwood, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2012.
He was born Feb. 13, 1925, in Indianapolis to the late William W. and Rosalind Woollen. He was a graduate of Shortridge High School in Indianapolis and received his bachelor’s degree from Butler University.
William was a supervisor at the U.S. Postal Service, where he retired after 35 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a World War II veteran.
William was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Bonnie J. (Miller) Woollen; and a grandson, Aaron Woollen.
Survivors include two sons, Taylor (Margi) Woollen and William (Cindy) Woollen V; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to Linda Hayes for her care and attention to their dad.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 S. State Road 135 at Olive Branch Road. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at The Gardens of Olive Branch Cemetery & Mausoleum Park in Greenwood.
