April Cummins Gourley, age 48, of Martinsville, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, after an extended battle with breast cancer.
She was born Friday, April 17, 1964, in Indianapolis to Loretta Cummins Evans and Maurice D. Cummins.
She graduated from Whiteland Community High School and Indiana University, School of Environmental and Public Affairs.
Her professional career included time at the Indianapolis Center for Advanced Research and the Electronics Manufacturing Productivity Facility in Indianapolis.
April married Christian F. Gourley in 1991, and she was the proud and devoted mother of Grant Christian and Grace Catherine.
April was an avid member of Tri Kappa sorority, Martinsville School Corporation Parent Teacher Association and First Presbyterian Church of Martinsville.
April was a loyal friend who cherished her time with friends and family at her home and on the family boat on both the Great Lakes and the Gulf of Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her husband; children; mother, and stepfather, Peter Evans of Winter Haven, Fla.; sister, Catherine Cummins Wilson of Greenwood; father-in-law, John P. Gourley of Mishawaka; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth G. (Dan) Kruk of New Carlisle and Anne G. (Scott) Long of Mansfield, Texas; nieces, Kaitlin, Sara and Katie; and nephews, James, Tyler, Matthew, Andrew and Michael.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, at First Presbyterian Church, 240 E. Washington St., Martinsville.
