Mr. Eugene George Caviston, 81, of Greenwood, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at Greenwood Village South.
He was born on Jan. 20, 1931, in Archibald, Pa., a son of Michael and Margaret Caviston.
He was married to Jean (Beutel) Caviston. She preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death are two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel (Susan) Caviston and Patrick (Jacki) Caviston; two daughters, Deborah (Tom) Meagher and Mary Caviston; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Gene was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing, sailing and hunting. He also volunteered at the church and at St. Francis Hospital.
He was a detective for the Detroit Police Department and retired in 1976.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. The funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, 335 S. Meridian St., Greenwood. Monsignor Mark Svarckopf will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
