W. Lincoln Christie
W. Lincoln Christie, 89, of Franklin, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at his residence.
Mr. Christie was born Oct. 19, 1923, in Seymour to Walter and Bertha Behrens Christie.
After graduating from Columbus High School, he joined the U.S. Army, serving from 1943 to March 1946 in the European theater.
Mr. Christie worked at Allison Engine Co. in Speedway in the aircraft division for 25 years. He served on the Perry Township school board for eight years and was a member of the Southport Presbyterian Church, serving as a trustee.
After retiring from Allison, he lived and worked as a real estate broker in Brown County for 10 years. He enjoyed traveling and fishing and was an avid golfer. He and Carol spent a good deal of their retired winters in Bradenton, Fla.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Jeffrey (Deborah) Christie (Jeff is a cardiologist with the Franciscan St. Francis Medical Group) and Rex E. (Dawn) Christie (Rex is a machine repairman for Allison Transmission); eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Carol Ann Case Christie; and a sister, Joann Gebhard.
Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. today at Wilson St.Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Southport Chapel, 7520 Madison Ave., Indianapolis.
