Virginia “Jenny” Bridgewater
Virginia “Jenny” Bridgewater, 81, of Greenwood passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012.
She was born June 22, 1931, in Michigan City, to the late Paul Elmer Lee and Glador O. (Hatch) Laker.
She married Kenneth E. Bridgewater on Nov. 18, 1948; and he preceded her in death in 2002.
She is survived by three children, Cindy (Phil) Baird, Mick (Judy) Bridgewater and Marcia (Gene) Ryan; and a sister, Jerri Lee. She was Nana to 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous close friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul E. Lee Jr. and Robert T. Lee.
Jenny was a receptionist for the City of Greenwood for Mayor Charles Henderson. She also was a child care provider at Woodside Child Care.
She enjoyed volunteering at the Greenwood Public Library and taught Sunday school at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, as well as Greenwood United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
Jenny was a past president for the Johnson County Home Extension Club and loved to spend time with her family and friends.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Jenny will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery.
