Bernard Lee Dennis
Bernard Lee Dennis, 89, died Sunday Nov. 4, 2012, at Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.
Bernard was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Dowling, Ohio, to Vivan and Hazel (Duncan) Dennis. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was employed with Eli Lilly and Co. in sales for 33 years, retiring in 1980.
He was married to Marjorie Flynn Dennis.
Bernard was a member of the Franklin American Legion Post, Franklin Masonic Lodge 107, the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis and Tabernacle Christian Church in Franklin. He enjoyed fishing and golf.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Dennis of Franklin; a daughter, Linda Dennis Rugenstein of Greenwood; two grandchildren, J. Wade (Amie) Rugenstein of Indianapolis and Chad (Lisa) Rugenstein of Ohio; five great-grandchildren; and a niece, Nancy Thornton Duncan and two great-nieces, Deedra and Hannah Duncan — all from Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vivan and Hazel Dennis; two sisters; and a brother.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Indiana Masonic Home, Ransford Chapel, 690 S. State St, Franklin. Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830; or Riley Children’s Foundation, 30 S. Meridian St., Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46204-3509.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel.
