Marjorie M. Blackburn
Marjorie M. (Moore) Blackburn, 88, of Greenwood passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 19, 1923, in Bicknell, to Maurice and Emma Blanche (Meade) Moore. She married Redford C. Blackburn on March 7, 1944 in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1988.
A son, Gordon Redford Blackburn, also preceded in her in death on May 10, 1991.
She had been a secretary for Ford Wire for several years. She was a member of the Pointe Church in Greenwood and had been a Sunday school teacher for more than 60 years at various churches.
Survivors include a son, Stephen (Sally) Blackburn of Indianapolis; a daughter, Darla (Chuck) Elliott of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Lori Ewoldt of Speedway, Stephen (Dawn) Adams of Fishers, Michelle (Ryan) Lenz of Savannah, Ga., and Joshua (Jenny) Blackburn of Indianapolis; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents.
The Revs. Steve Rhoades and Doug Bohall will conduct a service at noon Saturday at Sanctuary Community Church, 415 W. Smith Valley Road, Greenwood. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary, 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin and from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Entombment will be at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Pointe Church, the church she loved so much, 835 W. Worthsville Road, Greenwood, IN 46143; or Riley Children’s Foundation, 30 S. Meridian St., Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46204-3509.
