Levi F. Wethington, 85, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at his residence.
Born July 19, 1927, in Monticello, Ky., he was the son of Noah and Dorothy (Hughes) Wethington. He married Annis Raney on June 26, 1948; and she preceded him in death on May 27, 2003.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Wethington of Shelbyville and Liz Ross of Greenwood; a son, Pete (wife, Karen) Wethington of Shelbyville; a sister, Lala (husband, Ron) Isom of Columbus; grandchildren, Jason Hignite, Tristan Wethington Ross, Jesica Ann (husband, Matt) Catania, Noah Levi (wife, Nikki) Wethington and Nolan Lee Wethington; and great-granddaughters, Rachel Hignite and Olivia Ann Wethington.
He also was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Wethington was a member of First Baptist Church of Shelbyville.
He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1945. He was an Army Air Forces veteran, serving during World War II.
Mr. Wethington and his wife owned and operated several Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants until retiring in 1997.
Mr. Wethington loved gardening, woodworking and spending time in the woods with his grandchildren fishing and hunting.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, with his grandson, Jason Hignite and the Rev. David Love officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
