Paul A. and Ruth A. Newkirk, Seymour, plan to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 10 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Borchers.
All family and friends are invited. The couple request no gifts.
Paul and the former Ruth A. Hoevener were married Aug. 9, 1964.
The couple have three children, Susan (Daniel) Holle, Columbus, the late Mark Newkirk, and Nathan (Gwen) Newkirk, Seymour; and seven grandchildren.
Ruth worked for 20 years at C.J. Construction and is employed with Majestic Casket and Urn. She is an active member of Indiana Farm Bureau, American Sewing Guild and St. Paul Lutheran Church and is a volunteer with Caring Connections.
Paul has been a farmer for 47 years. He was the general manager of Cortland Mutual Telephone Co. for four years, a member of the Indiana National Guard from 1951-71; president of Sauers Mutual Insurance for 31 years; and an active member of Indiana Farm Bureau and St. Paul Lutheran Church.
