Curtis and Sarah Goecker Benter of Seymour plan to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 5 to 8 p.m. April 27 at St. John’s Lutheran School, Sauers. Friends and family are invited. The couple request no gifts.
The Benters were married April 19, 1964, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan with the late Rev. Alfred Boester officating.
They have three children, Susan (Donald) Schnitker, Michael (Linda) Benter and David (Kristy) Benter, all of Seymour; eight grandchildren, Emily and Luke (Katlynn Schneider) Schnitker, Nate, Olivia, Anna and Lena Benter, and Katherine and Jack Benter.
She is retired after 16 years working in county government and enjoys reading and gardening. He retired after 12 years working for Jackson-Jennings Co-op and 29 years as a banker. He served in the Indiana National Guard for eight years and enjoys working on the farm.
The couple also enjoy attending grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities. The couple are members of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers.
The Benters also recently celebrated their anniversary with all of their children and grandchildren during a weekend stay at a cabin in Brown County.
