Wrong-way-driver call leads to DUI arrest

Follow Daily Journal:

A Greenwood man was arrested after another motorist told police he saw a motorist driving the wrong way on U.S. 31 in Franklin.

Barry R. Myers, 50, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence after a test showed his blood-alcohol content was about twice the legal limit to be considered too intoxicated to drive.

Police received a call about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday that a driver was traveling south in the northbound lanes of U.S. 31 near Commerce Drive in Franklin. A Johnson County sheriff’s deputy spotted the car on the south side of the city, where he saw the vehicle cross the center line and swerve back and forth, according to the police report.

The deputy stopped Myers and could smell alcohol, the report said. Myers failed sobriety tests and tested positive for alcohol on a breath test. He was taken to the Johnson County jail, where a test showed his blood-alcohol level was .14 percent, the report said.

Myers, 1107 Corn Tassel Row, was arrested and was being held on $1,000 bond.
