Woman faces charge of manufacturing meth

Follow Daily Journal:

An Edinburgh woman has been arrested on a charge of manufacturing methamphetamine after police say they found supplies used to make the drug in her home and in trash bags they believe she threw away.

Cathy Sconce, 34, was arrested Monday on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possessing drug precursors, possessing methamphetamine and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Edinburgh Police Chief David Mann said a resident called police Dec. 25 after he found the trash bags, which gave off an ammonia smell.

While looking through the trash bags, police found a receipt for grocery store items paid for with a food stamp card. They also used surveillance video from the store to link the card to Sconce, according to an Edinburgh Police Department report.

Sconce gave officers permission to search her home, and they found equipment and supplies used to make methamphetamine as well as residue from previous productions, according to the report.

Sconce, 406 E. Park Court, was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where she is being held on $18,000 bond.
