A Franklin woman was taken by helicopter to a hospital after her vehicle was smashed by a dump truck near Edinburgh on Wednesday morning.

Alicia Littlejohn, 30, was taken by Lifeline helicopter to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital due to possible internal injuries, according to an Indiana State Police news release. Littlejohn was alert and talking after the crash that crushed part of her vehicle.

Littlejohn was traveling east on State Road 252 and attempted to turn onto the northbound ramp to Interstate 65. Littlejohn turned in front of a westbound dump truck, which collided with the passenger side of her sport-utility vehicle.

The accident occurred at 7:23 a.m., and the helicopter arrived about 10 minutes later, landing on the entrance ramp to northbound 65.

The driver of the dump truck, John Bense, 30, Hope, was not injured.
