A special book fair Saturday at the Barnes and Noble bookstore at Greenwood Park Mall will benefit a local theater troupe specializing in Shakespeare’s works.
Representatives of Garfield Shakespeare Company, the all-volunteer theater troupe based in Garfield Park in Indianapolis, will be on hand from 1 to 5 p.m. at the store, 1251 U.S. 31 North, to present live stage combat demonstrations, theatrical vignettes and a scavenger hunt. There also will be face painting and hair-braiding demonstrations, as well games for children.
Barnes & Noble will contribute a percentage of every sale made at all Barnes & Noble stores from April 19 to 24 to Garfield Shakespeare Company when shoppers present a voucher at checkout — either online or in stores. A copy of the voucher can be found at garfieldbard.webs.com.
The contributions will help the theater group present its first musical this summer — Lerner and Loewe’s “Camelot” — and give the theater troupe a head start on a budget for the 2015 theater season.
