When Donnie Walsh parted ways with the New York Knicks a year ago, the last thing he envisioned was returning to an NBA front office.
Further still from his imagination was coming back to the Indiana Pacers, for whom he worked from 1984 to 2008 — first as an assistant coach, later as general manager and ultimately as president of basketball operations.
But as fate would have it, here he is again.
And he couldn’t be happier.
